My Top 10 Albums of 2011
This has been sitting as a draft on my computer for weeks because I couldn’t decide on the order of some things haha, but here is the final result!
1. Taking Back Sunday-Taking Back Sunday
Favorite track: This Is All Now/El Paso
Bringing this band back to it’s original line up was the best decision ever made.
2. The Cinema-My Blood Is Full Of Airplanes
Favorite track: Say It Like You Mean
I love this album. I know Leighton put out one through Lydia this year as well but this was just ten times better in my opinion.
3. Manchester Orchestra-Simple Math
Favorite track: Virgin
Can’t say enough about this album. It’s fucking beautiful and chilling at times. Perfect.
4. The Make-This Box EP
Favorite Track-Spin City
Favorite new band of the year! Extremely nice group of people and I can’t wait to hear their full length.
5. Kevin Devine-Between The Concrete And The Clouds
Favorite Track: I Used To Be Someone
It’s Kevin Devine, he can do no wrong. Really though, he’s one of the most talented artists out there right now, I highly recommend checking out every one of his albums.
6. All Get Out-The Season
Favorite Track:
Punching myself for just now getting into this band. This album is so damn good.
7. Go Radio-Lucky Street
Favorite Track: Fight, Fight (Reach For The Sky)
Great album, great dudes. Glad I got to spend a whole day on Warped Tour following them around
8. All Time Low-Dirty Work
Favorite Track: Guts
I always hear people saying they didn’t like this album, but I like it a lot….more than Nothing Personal for sure. It’s All Time Low, it’s catchy, it’s good.
9. You, Me And Everyone We Know-Things Are Really Weird Right Now EP
Favorite Track: There Was A Thump, Then Another
I don’t even want to acknowledge that this is the last thing this band will ever put out. Their break up was one of the worst moments of my year.
10. The Summer Set-Everything’s Fine
Favorite Track: Don’t Let Me Go/Begin Again
Adore this band. They progress a little more with every album. Good, good kids.
Honorable Mentions:
- The Downtown Fiction: Let’s Be Animals
- Breathe Carolina-Hell Is What You Make It
- States-Room To Run
- Sparks The Rescue-Worst Thing I’ve Been Cursed With
- Panic! At The Disco-Vices and Virtues
- Eisley-The Valley
Disappointments:
Brighten-I’ll Always Be Around
KILLS me to put this band down here. It just seemed like the album was thrown together just because and ended up just being…boring. First thing by Brighten I haven’t been completely in love with and that kills me.
The Cab-Symphony Soldier
I liked a few songs on this album and that’s about it. I was looking forward to this coming out because I loved Whisper War but this just fell short of my expectations.
